BIO
Karen Laura Peters (she/her) is a Tacoma/Seattle based indie singer-songwriter and cellist. With her collaborative nature and gift for sharing her heart, Karen’s performances are entrancing and captivating. She is a storyteller and experience-creator who invites audiences into connection and feeling.
Her recent single release, Patterns, is a tender and persistent expression of self-love and processing inherited family patterns. Featuring her bandmates from her indie-soul band, Queen of Hearts, Patterns was recorded at Sage Arts Recording Studio north of Seattle.
While training to be a professional cellist at Oberlin College & Conservatory, Karen fell in love with contemporary music and folk music. She began writing her own songs and joined a singing strings band, Her Treehouse, which was featured in NPR’s All Songs Considered blog in “Our Favorite Desks in the Wild From the 2019 Tiny Desk Contest.” Karen released her debut EP, Of the Embers, in 2022 and has since released Duet about the experience of being a sibling and collaborated with Tara Chugh and Michael Lauckner Thomas on Didn't Know What I Was Missing, a song about the joy of community.
In addition to performing as a solo artist, Karen performs often with her indie-soul band Queen of Hearts. She is the Co-Founder of the WA based music organization, Momentum, which helps musicians feel inspired, connected and empowered to build momentum on their music journey.
